Lively evening of songs about mortality

Due to the pandemic, it took three attempts for the intimate concert featuring singer and actor Reinhild Kuhn and Berlin-based guitarist Thomas Holzhausen to finally take place in the seminar room on Rudolfstraße. The audience consisted of voluntary and permanent employees, representatives of the foundation and friends of the singer. Songs by Leonard Cohen, Die Toten Hosen and Tom Waits and many more were performed, with the atmosphere varying from heartfelt to spirited, direct to reflective and subtle to frank. After all, each of the songs performed was an ode to the questions surrounding our existence. Once the concert was over, the two artists met their fans in the institute’s garden to discuss music and life over a glass of wine and other cold drinks.

One volunteer expressed the following after the concert: “I would like to once again express my gratitude for the wonderful concert last Friday evening. I’m usually more of a fan of classical music, so was looking forward to what we would hear. The experience was truly fascinating. These two musicians have convinced me of the powerful messages songs can convey. Witnessing our daily working lives transposed into brilliant musical creations was a refreshing and mesmerising experience.”
