Newsletter December 2017

Dear Readers,

Each of the four main departments of Johannes-Hospiz – the in-patient hospice, the out-patient hospice, the Academy and the department for grief counselling – can look back on an eventful year. The special power of bereavement support was particularly noticeable in 2017. That is apparent with regard to personal, content and equipment of the house in Rudolfstraße, the second house being part of Johannes-Hospiz. In May, it got its own office on the second floor. Furthermore, a room in the basement was newly decorated. It is suitable for grief counselling but may also serve as a place of refuge for the colleagues. You will find a report, dear reader, under the first heading of this newsletter.

One of the core activities of the Academy is organizing the further training in palliative care for nurses. This course is certified in accordance with the guidelines of the German Association for Palliative Care. I always rejoice in the successful conclusion of such courses, as the final project works of the participants demonstrate the relevance of this training for their daily practice.

Hoping that you can also look back on a fulfilled and successful year at the end of this year, I remain with best wishes for a blessed advent and Christmas time and a wonderful start of 2018

Yours

Andreas Stähli
